The first topic our class did for critical thinking this year was recounts. What we had to do was recount our summer holidays. Its always very typical for a teacher to tell students to talk about their summer holidays when school starts, and quite obviously, this applied for us in critical thinking. Recounting is a form of writing of retelling events in the past in chronological order. I started my recount with the events that happened in June. (Early Summer) Then chronologically, I wrote about the events in July and on into August. The process of writing was quite easy, since the topic (summer holidays) is something that we already know about very well, and it was basically writing about your own personal experiences. As a matter of fact, our class did this last year for our field studies so this was not something completely new for me.
As for the actual content in my recount, I wrote about the events in summer school in June, returning to Korea in July, and camping at a Royal Flush’s house in Karuizawa (軽井沢) in Nagano on August.
